Upcoming Exhibitions 2020
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, all Lockhart River Arts Centre group art exhibitions between 25 March 2020 to 30 October 2020 have been cancelled both domestically and Internationally. The cancellations have impacted adversely the Arts Centre's projected sales revenue earnings during this period substantially.
Exhibitions held in 2020 between 13 January 2020 and 25 March 2020 before the Arts Centre closed are listed below;
- February 2020: Online group exhibition at Art Mob Fine Aboriginal Art Gallery, Hobart Tasmania. Link: http://artmob.com.au/exhibition/lockhart-river/
- February 2020: Group exhibition titled "Lockhart River Art Gang - Sharing our Stories", Kate Owen Gallery, Sydney NSW. Artworks by Rosella Namok, Samantha Hobson, Fiona Omeenyo, Irene Namok, Silas Hobson and Patrick Butcher Jnr.
- March 2020: Lockhart River Group Art Expo, Nomads Hotel, Mulgrave Road, Cairns. 3 day exhibition titled "Puuya Kuntha - Strong Heart". Expo included daily performance by Kawadjii Wimpa traditional dance group from Lockhart River Community.
- August 2020 - Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair has been cancelled due to Covid-19. More information will be published in the near future
- July 2020 - Cairns Indigenous Art Fair has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Alterenative arrangements are being planned by the managment of Cairns Indigenous Art Fair and announcements will be published once available.
- June 2020 - Fourth annual Lockhart River Gala Auction at Brisbane Club cancelled due to Covid-19. A new date will be announced post Covid-19 pandemic for the exclusive Lockhart River arts auction fundraising for Puuya Foundation Lockhart River.
- Group participation at World Expo Dubai 2020 - Confirmed however finer details to be annouced in the near future and is also subject to Covid-19 Pandemic. 2 weeks participation by the Arts Centre's team of 8 artists and basket weavers at the Australian Pavillion Arts Program.
- Group exhibition at Chengdu, China 2020 - organized through the Australian Consul General Chengu and DFAAT Team Chengdu in 2019 for 2020 is now on hold due to Covid-19 pandemic. Further annoucements to be published in the near future
