Lockhart River Arts Centre has two new significant group exhibitions currently in progress in Hobart Tasmania and Sydney New South Wales. The two concurrent exhibitions features works from founding ART Gang Members, new and emerging artists within the group portfolio.
The exhibition in Hobart is at Art Mob Aboriginal Fine Art Gallery. The paintings for the exhibition was selected by gallery owner Euan Hills in April. The exhibition included two large sized paintings of Irene Namok and Patrick Butcher Jnr which could not fit into the Skytrans Airlines aircraft cargo from Lockhart River to Cairns. Corporation Manager Enoch Perazim loaded the large paintings as well as the other paintings in a 4WD vehicle and drove 850 km one way to Cairns to freight the paintings to Hobart. The drive was made through many rivers. The rivers and inland water system have strong cultural, traditional and spiritual connection to all Lockhart River artists and the entire community. The exhibition is titled "Many Rivers to Cross". The exhibition opened on Friday 25 May 2018 and ends on 17 June 2018.
